Damaged Arrow pastor arrested outside Tulsa Women’s Clinic
TULSA, Okla. — A Broken Arrow pastor is charged with disturbing the peace following being arrested exterior of the Tulsa Women’s Clinic.
Pastor Greg McEntire stated he and users of his church, Broken Arrow Baptist Temple, have prayed and sung when protesting abortion outside of the Tulsa Women’s Clinic every single week for 5 several years.
He said there were being about 25 of them outside of the clinic. He stated just after becoming there for about an hour, a law enforcement officer confirmed up, inquiring them to tone down their singing. McEntire stated the officer explained to them you could listen to them singing from inside the clinic, which is a violation of Tulsa’s sounds statute. McEntire said the officer was likely to create him a ticket, but McEntire refused to indicator it. He was then arrested.
McEntire explained he feels like they have been trying to consider his voice absent.
“We sense like it is an attempt to silence our voices mainly because if we get so gentle we cannot be heard, why need to we be there. If people simply cannot listen to us, why are we there,” McEntire mentioned.
Tulsa’s noise statute prohibits singing, shouting and using bullhorns exterior of colleges, churches, hospitals or healthcare clinics for the duration of normal business enterprise hours. Individuals amenities have to also post “Quiet zone” signals and their working hrs.
